Correct. Writing has always been my passion. Ever since I was a youngster at primary school, it became obvious even then that English and creative writing was my direction. I would constantly make my own story books on A4 paper, bringing them into school and proudly dumping them on the class bookshelf. Fast forward a good few years and I was graduating university with a First Class degree in BA Journalism and an MSc in Media Psychology. 💫
Throughout my journey, I discovered that my talents as well as my interests lay more with journalism and commercial copy. This included things like writing for businesses, journalistic articles, features, social media and website content. I still love creative writing and I've always got my nose buried in a book, but both my writing style and personality lend themselves to the reporting of journalism and the commercial art of copywriting. ⭐️
I feel very lucky that my career, skills and interests are all tied up into one element. I always knew writing was my path and I am fortunate that I had it mapped out for myself from a young age. There was never a question about it. I hated maths, loathed science and was considerably bad at anything DT, food tech or textiles related. My career began as a journalist and in-house copywriter for a range of brands. Then, amongst the chaos of Lockdown 2020, I launched my very own writing business, Rebecca Heyes Writes.
